The latest build, Skype Preview 8.26.76, introduces a feature allowing senders to know if recipients have read their messages or not.
Skype is testing a feature to track message read status
Microsoft announces new feature available in 1:1 and group chats with fewer than 20 people. The recipient's avatar will be displayed below the message, allowing the sender to know if the message has been read.
Currently, the feature to see if the recipient has read the message is being rolled out to Insider users using the latest Skype preview build. Users can activate or deactivate the feature in the Settings. Additionally, the feature will be disabled when users switch to Invisible mode.
The latest Skype preview build is now being deployed to devices running Android 6.0 and above and iOS 10 and above, as well as clients for Windows, Mac, and Linux. To download the latest Skype preview and install it, visit here: Download Skype Preview
