Regular Outlook.com users were unaffected, but the absence of Skype left many beta testers disappointed. Consequently, Skype was one of the most requested features on the Outlook Feedback page. It seems Microsoft has listened to its users, with a better-completed interface and a focus on improving application quality as Skype returns to Outlook.com beta.
Skype reintegrated into Outlook.com beta
The Skype icon resides in the top right corner of the webpage, facilitating easy continuation of Skype conversations. Regrettably, due to this being the initial phase of messaging app integration, many anticipated features are still missing. Voice and video calls are no longer available, and users can only chat with contacts within Skype. Additionally, the user status change feature is currently unavailable. The sole improvement with Skype is that users can engage in multiple chats simultaneously.
To utilize Skype, you must first install Skype on your computer. If not yet installed, refer to how to install Skype here.
As promised by Microsoft, this is just the beginning, and there will be many more developments. 'Other new enhancements will be added to Skype integrated into Outlook.com, but for now, users can already enjoy the new Skype chat experience,' according to Microsoft.
Microsoft has unveiled Outlook.com beta for nearly half a year now. Gradually, they have begun updating new features, optimizing for their users to work more effortlessly. Microsoft not only focuses on upgrading new features for their office product but also regularly adds new tools and features for their operating system, especially Windows 10, where the system bug fixing tool Windows 10 Bug Bash will commence on 6/2.
