Do you remember back in late 2016 Microsoft rolled out the SMS Relay feature for the Skype Preview trial version, allowing users to send all their SMS and Skype messages from a single app. However, this feature is only available on Windows 10 Mobile devices.
Good news for users as Microsoft is rolling out a new feature in the trial version of Skype for Android and iOS, allowing users to send and receive SMS messages from Skype for PC or Mac.
The new feature, called SMS Connect, has now appeared in the settings section of the Skype Preview update for Android, but users cannot yet activate this feature. The update is part of the Skype Preview 8.29.76 version for Android and iOS.
Furthermore, Microsoft is likely to add an option for users to use Skype SMS or SMS Connect on Skype for desktop, as part of the Skype Preview app update. On Windows 10 computers, the new trial update is reported to be part of version 8.29.76.16.
Users can send SMS text messages via Skype Credit or Microsoft's Your Phone app when the feature is available.
