Slow travel is a form of tourism that immerses oneself in nature and completely disconnects from the routine of daily life. To find a suitable place for slow living, look no further than Lam Dong.
Slow Travel Itinerary Suggestions for April 30th - May 1st
Here is the suggested itinerary for a 4-day, 3-night slow travel experience in Lam Dong.
Day 1: Saigon – Duc Trong, Lam Dong
On the first day of the slow travel journey, choose Duc Trong, Lam Dong, to experience a life completely harmonized with nature. Duc Trong has a cool and pleasant atmosphere, similar to Da Lat, but without the hustle and bustle of tourists.
The chosen accommodation is Nhà Sàn Homestay. You can book a Limousine from Saigon directly to this location for 220,000 VND/person/one way, with door-to-door service up to the homestay. Contact for reservations and transportation at 0972.227.702.
Upon arrival, engage in entertaining activities such as photography, badminton, table tennis, or reading. Leave the online world and the hustle and bustle of the city behind. You can also order a home-cooked meal at Sàn Homestay, with fresh vegetables and locally sourced fish and meat.
Day 2: Mountain trekking in Đức Trọng, immersing in nature
Around Nhà Sàn Homestay, there are numerous spots for mountain trekking and sightseeing. Trekking helps detoxify after city life, and breathing in the fresh mountain air significantly improves your health.
Some day trekking routes to consider:
Tour 1: Chây Dzưi Mountain - 14km by motorbike or plow, then a 25-minute hike to the summit. The journey includes asphalt and dirt roads, villages, and cool pine forests. Enjoy the serene beauty of Ninh Thuận, the majestic mountains, and the tranquility. Note: In rainy weather, the dirt road may be challenging for vehicles; the beauty here is beyond words and pictures.
** Additional benefits: visit Ma Bó dam
Tour 2: Ông Mountain - 10km by motorbike or plow, 40-minute trek to Trdốc. The journey includes asphalt and dirt roads, villages. Cons: Few shaded areas, steep and straight climb. Pros: Breathtaking panoramic views of the picturesque Bình Thuận mountains almost 360 degrees.
** Added value: visit K’Long Bông dam
Tour 3: Nhà Sàn plantation (Golden Butterfly Valley - for June-July, filled with golden butterflies): 2km on asphalt road by motorbike, 8km forest walk (round trip). Pros: Quiet, cool, fresh pine forest, easy to navigate. Cons: You might want to stay in the tent at the plantation forever. If energy permits, visit Ma Bó hillside along with it.
Day 3: Slow living in Dalat
For a change of atmosphere, head to Dalat to enjoy the holiday. But to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city, consider setting up a tent on the hills surrounding Dalat.
Contact the transportation service from Nhà Sàn Homestay for a direct trip to Dalat city center. Here you can buy groceries for cooking, or I suggest getting grilled meat or hot pot from local vendors.
Some hills around Dalat, such as Thiên Phúc Hill, Hòn Bồ, Đa Phú, and Tuyền Lâm, are convenient for camping. Build a campfire, sing, and enjoy food without being influenced by the hustle and bustle of the city.
Day 4: Wander around Dalat and return
Wake up early to witness the beautiful sunrise in Dalat and breathe in the fresh air deeply. Then, return to the city center to savor Dalat's specialties. During the April 30th - May 1st holiday, the purple phoenix flowers in Dalat are vibrant. You can stroll around Xuân Hương Lake and take photos. After 4 days of slow living and breathing in fresh air, you'll return to the city with renewed energy and a relaxed mindset for life.
