Discover these ingenious hacks to make your beach vacation even more perfect this summer.
1. Motion Sickness Prevention
Many people avoid long-distance travel because of motion sickness. If motion sickness patches or pills don't work for you, try the following tips:
When traveling by boat, find a seat with good ventilation outdoors. If you must sit inside, choose a seat in the middle of the vessel as it experiences less sway.
When flying, opt for a seat over the wing rather than at the back of the plane, as it experiences the least turbulence. Keep the air vent open above your head and direct the airflow toward your face. When traveling by train or car, focus on the scenery ahead rather than looking side to side. Keep the windows open for fresh air (except in heavily polluted areas), and choose a seat near the front to ensure a smoother ride.
Get a good night's sleep the night before traveling, avoid alcohol, gas, and refrain from reading books or newspapers while the plane or vehicle is in motion.
2. Treating Sunburned Skin
Exposing your skin to the sun for too long or frolicking in the sea without protection can leave your skin red, swollen, and peeling, which looks unsightly. The remedy is simple:
Gently apply the starchy water leftover from boiling rice to the affected area. Your skin will quickly soothe and soften. Additionally, the white part inside an orange peel helps remove rough, dead skin layers. Follow up with a moisturizing cream for complete recovery.
3. Camera Care
Saltwater or salty air can damage your camera. Therefore, make it a habit to clean your camera, brush off sand from the body and lens with a specialized brush after each beach photoshoot.
4. Using Fresh Lemons to Repel Mosquitoes
Bring along a few lemons to avoid mosquito bites while traveling. Rubbing lemon peel on your skin or brewing warm water infused with lemon and lemon essential oil is a good way to repel mosquitoes.
5. Preserving Fresh Crabs and Lobsters on the Way Home
If you're buying seafood to bring home as gifts, especially crabs and lobsters, pack them in a foam cooler lined with ice packs at the bottom. Cover with a layer of foam sheets before placing the crabs and lobsters.
