II. Standard Sample Essay on Social Discourse on Family Violence and My Perspectives
The warmth of a family is a foundation, a cradle that nurtures and educates individuals. Home is always a place of tranquility, providing genuine emotions. It is where one finds peace, and all worries and fatigue suddenly vanish. Family is a source of pride and profound value in everyone's heart. Unfortunately, in some families, the distressing issue of domestic violence has emerged. This is a societal concern that demands urgent measures to address.
As we know, violence is a malicious behavior causing harm to others through actions or words. Domestic violence involves mistreatment, physical abuse, and psychological pressure, inflicting emotional and health damage on family members. It is not only about physical harm but also about infringement, coercion, and dominance within the family. Domestic violence shatters happiness, causing emotional and psychological damage, affecting the children who might be influenced by violent tendencies from their own family.
Domestic violence is an extremely reprehensible behavior. When discussing domestic violence, one often thinks of a husband beating his wife, parents abusing their children, and even ungrateful children mistreating those who gave them life. The root causes of domestic violence usually originate from the male figures in the family. They may succumb to social vices for pleasure or peer pressure, neglecting their families and children. Not only that, but these insensitive fathers and husbands bring home a pile of debts. The wives, who tirelessly work day and night to support their children's education, also have to endure the burden of supporting a drinking mouth, facing threats from creditors every few days. Despite their resilience and courage, these women are still vulnerable, and one wonders who can endure such a situation.
People often say that happiness must be built from both sides. However, in this situation, the other partner is utterly useless, feeling desperate, and in pain. There are times when they want to give up, but as wives and mothers, they must think about their children and elderly mothers. The current society has countless challenges, making the life of a woman even more difficult, and they cannot turn a blind eye. So, the wife continues to live, but her heart is dead. They are unfamiliar with the concept of family happiness, feeling dissatisfied and exhausted. They express their desires for their husbands to change, but he returns home intoxicated, dragging his wife out for not providing enough money for his alcohol. He ridicules and mocks his only wife out of envy for the neighbor's wife. Those who are mad seldom acknowledge their insanity. As a husband and a man, the one with broad shoulders in the house should ideally care for and provide for the family, but instead, he succumbs to vice, destroying the happiness of his own family.
The pain is not only borne by the suffering wife; in the household, there are also young children. Witnessing frequent violence between parents, these children may develop the belief that violence is a normal solution to problems, shaping their future to mirror that of their father. Later life brings more heavy sighs within the family. In addition, there are elderly parents in the house, those who brought them into the world would never want their children to make mistakes, nor could anyone be indifferent enough to let their own offspring destroy their happiness. They speak out, but the intoxicated and cold-blooded ones are indifferent to any pleas, rising like wild beasts to dominate, suppressing any opposition. They roar like wild animals, and their misguided children end up assaulting their own parents.
Family violence is the nightmare of every family and society. To curb it, both families and society must collaborate. The state should enact laws to appropriately punish those engaging in domestic violence, and society should strongly condemn individuals with such behavior, standing up to protect the victims. Within the family, members should love and support each other, with a key focus on the husband having a positive attitude towards family happiness, caring, and showing affection for the family nest.
When we talk about domestic violence, we often think of a husband beating his wife, children assaulting their parents. However, recently, there is a growing trend of wives killing their husbands. Modern life seems to have gone seriously awry. Not long ago, we felt pain and pity for the silenced women who had no voice, but now, women have risen and fought back strongly. Yet, when some women reclaim their voice, they adopt the habits of oppressors, following the regrettable path of trampling on their family's happiness. We are all human beings, and no one should dictate to another. Happiness cannot be bought with money, and it cannot be forced or achieved through coercion. Regardless of gender, right or wrong, respect and understanding should prevail. Let's not let a moment of anger cause harm to the ones we love and are bonded to for a lifetime.
Domestic violence is an extremely, extremely despicable behavior. Only the foolish choose violence to solve problems. We are all human beings with thoughts and understanding, and we all belong to blood-related families. We love and help each other. Therefore, let's not create unnecessary violence in a fit of anger. As human beings, we should listen and observe. Only then can lasting happiness and marital bliss be achieved.
