Putting aside the mundane routines of life, I embarked on a journey along the winding roads of Ha Giang in the northern mountainous region, embracing the exquisite beauty of this frontier land.
Solo Adventure in Ha Giang During Buckwheat Blossom Season
Transportation: Opting for bus travel followed by renting a motorbike to explore all the roads of Ha Giang:
- Bus from Hanoi to Ha Giang: I chose the Cau Me bus to reach Ha Giang. The seats were exceptionally comfortable and clean, with the latest trip departing at 9 pm, priced at 200,000 VND per person per way.
- Renting a motorbike in Ha Giang: To facilitate exploration and sightseeing in Ha Giang, I rented a motorbike from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hang Thuong. I was delighted with their enthusiastic and attentive assistance. The bike was fully equipped with maps, tools, water, raincoats, luggage straps, and even a full tank of gas. The rental price is 200,000 VND per bike per day, with a deposit of 500,000 VND per bike. The deposit is refunded upon return if the bike remains undamaged.

I arrived in Hà Giang city late, around 9 p.m., so I decided to stay on the bus until 4:30 in the morning. Upon reaching Đồng Văn Town, I rented a room at Ms. Giang's cheerful house. The house is conveniently located near the market, clean, and perfect for enjoying Hà Giang cuisine in the evening or strolling to a nearby café. The room rate here is very reasonable, only 150,000 VND per single room per night.

Must-Visit Stunning Destinations in Hà Giang
Day 1: Bac Sum Pass – Twin Mountains of Co Tien – Yen Minh Pine Forest – Chín Khoanh Pass – Pho Bang Town, Pao's House – Vuong Family Mansion
Bac Sum Pass
Kicking off my Hà Giang adventure, I explored Bac Sum Pass. From afar, the winding pass resembles a giant snake. What could be more marvelous than beholding majestic nature, breathing in the fresh mountain air, and feeling a sense of tranquility like never before?

Twin Mountains of Co Tien – Quan Ba
Beyond the pass lies the Twin Mountains of Co Tien, also known as the Quan Ba Twin Mountains. This is a scenic spot consisting of two hills with a fairly round shape, nestled side by side in the Quan Ba valley. Here, you have the opportunity to admire fields of buckwheat flowers and especially gaze upon the Twin Mountains of Co Tien.

Yen Minh Pine Forest
The road to the pine forest is breathtaking, captivating anyone who comes here with its pristine beauty, lush green pine trees stretching tall amidst the rugged mountains. In Yen Minh Pine Forest, you can camp, dine under the cool shade of pine trees, or pick fallen pine cones beneath the canopy.

Passing through Yen Minh Pine Forest, you'll reach Chín Khoanh Pass, which curves like a bow but as long as you hold onto the steering wheel firmly, you can confidently navigate the road, admiring the majestic and romantic landscapes of Hà Giang. Along the way, you'll encounter Northwest children dressed in ethnic costumes, carrying baskets filled with flowers, selling brooches, or playing flutes... The innocent smiles of these highland children keep me captivated.

The Sleepy Town of Pho Bang, Pao's Home
True to its name, this place is eerily tranquil. I was enchanted by its charming little corners, snapped a few photos, received a potato from an old lady, and had moments that still bring me joy when I reminisce.

The Vuong Family Mansion
This is one of my favorite spots. You'll be completely awestruck by the mansion, which still maintains its ancient charm and unique architecture that you won't find anywhere else.

Day 2: Lung Cu Flagpole – Nho Que River – Dong Van Karst Plateau – Ma Pi Leng Pass
Lung Cu Flagpole
Exploring Hà Giang, you surely can't miss the captivating destination of Lung Cu Flagpole. The flagpole stands at a height of 1470m above sea level, located in Lung Cu commune, Dong Van district, Ha Giang province. 'Lung Cu' in H'mong language means 'Dragon's Abode,' a sacred land where dragons reside.

From above, you'll see two perennial lakes on either side of the mountains. These lakes are called dragon's eyes and are the main water source for the Lo Lo and H'mong people. Alongside is a Hà Giang with a triangular flower valley as beautiful as a painting, offering an incredibly enjoyable experience.

Dong Van Karst Plateau
The Dong Van Karst Plateau boasts majestic and unique natural landscapes, preserving the extremely unique cultural heritage of H'Mong, Lo Lo, Pu Peo, and Dao ethnic groups.

You'll marvel at the beauty of the clear, meandering water flowing around the mountain's foothills. This becomes an unforgettable symbol when recalling Hà Giang. At this moment, I can only sit back, enjoy, and admire the majestic scenery of this land. Additionally, you can camp right by the empty land next to the Nho Que River, ensuring you'll have some exciting experiences.

Ma Pi Leng Pass
As one of the legendary peaks of the Northwest, Ma Pi Leng Pass lies on the Happiness Road connecting Dong Van and Meo Vac. It's known as the most beautiful route in the rocky plateau region. The best feeling is driving amidst towering rocky mountains on one side and deep abyss on the other, gazing at the winding Nho Que River like a silk ribbon, offering incredibly amazing emotions. Moreover, along the way, you can admire the sparkling buckwheat flower valleys to your heart's content.

Additionally, you can try some famous dishes in Ha Giang such as 'thắng dền' (steamed corn cake), buffalo meat grilled on a stove, five-color sticky rice, 'cháo ấu tẩu' (baby duck porridge), Dong Van rolled cake, buckwheat triangle cake… Or buy a few kilograms of 'óc chó' (dog fruit) as gifts for your relatives and friends.
Ending the unforgettable 3-day-2-night journey in Ha Giang, I returned to Hanoi full of excitement, preparing for the next plans... Just keep a corner in your heart like a child, and you'll see how interesting and beautiful this world is. I hope you'll also have wonderful moments like me.
