Guidelines for solving Exercise 4 on Page 55 of Math 5 workbook
Exercise: a) Draw rectangle ABCD with the length AB = 6cm and the width AD = 4cm. b) Determine the midpoint M of side AD, the midpoint N of side BC. Connect point M and point N to form quadrilaterals that are also rectangles. - Name these rectangles. - Name the sides parallel to side AB.
Solution Method:
a) Draw a rectangle following these steps:
- First, draw the line segment AB with a length of 4cm.
- Next, on the line perpendicular to AB at A, take the line segment AD = 3cm.
- Then, on the line perpendicular to AB at B, take the line segment BC = 3cm.
- Finally, connect point C to point D, resulting in rectangle ABCD with a length of AB = 4cm and a width of BC = 3cm.
b) We have: AD = 4cm, on AD take point M such that AM = 2cm => MA = MD = 2cm.
So, M is the midpoint of AD, similarly determine N as the midpoint of BC.
