Solving Exercise 2 on page 6 of Mathematics Grade 5 in the review of basic properties of fractions: Equalizing denominators of fractions
Guide to solving Exercise 2 on page 6 of Mathematics Grade 5
Solving method:
To equalize the denominators of fractions, follow these steps:
- Examine the two denominators of the given fractions:
+ If the two denominators are not divisible, multiply the numerator and denominator of the first fraction by the denominator of the second fraction, and vice versa multiply the numerator and denominator
of the second fraction by the denominator of the first fraction
If two denominators divide evenly, resulting in a natural number C, then multiply the numerator and denominator of the fraction with the smaller denominator by the natural number C. For the fraction with the larger denominator, keep it unchanged.
