Exercise 1 Math 5 Page 172 SGK
Problem:
A rectangular foundation has a length of 8m, and a width equal to 3/4 of the length. Square bricks with a side length of 4dm are used to pave the foundation. The price for each brick is 20,000 VND. How much money is needed to pave the entire foundation? (Ignore the cost of mortar).

Exercise 2 Math 5 Page 172 SGK
Problem:
A trapezoidal field has an average of two bases equal to 36m. The area of that field is equal to the area of a square plot with a perimeter of 96m.
a) Calculate the height of the trapezoidal field.
b) Given the difference between two bases is 10m, calculate the length of each base of the trapezoidal field.
Solution:
a) The side length of the square plot is:
96 : 4 = 24 (m)
The area of the square plot is:
24 x 24 = 576 (m2)
So, the area of the trapezoidal field is 576m2.
The height of the trapezoidal field is:
576 : 36 = 16 (m)
b) The total length of the two bases of the trapezoidal field is: 36 x 2 = 72 (m)
We have the diagram:
After the lesson on square meters, we continue practicing on this lesson, the hints to solve problem 5 on pages 28-29 will help students grasp the knowledge better.
- Trapezoid area = (large base + small base) × height : 2.
