Reviewing some statistical and probability factors
1. Solve Exercise 1 Page 111 Math Textbook Grade 3
Problem: A store counts the number of various types of soft drinks sold in a day (counted per cup):
Observing the recorded table and answer the questions:
- How many cups of sugarcane juice did the store sell?
- Which type of drink did the store sell 11 cups of?
Solution Guide: Read the data in the table and then answer the questions of the problem.
Answer:
- The store sold 19 cups of sugarcane juice.
- The store sold 11 cups of orange juice.
2. Solve Exercise 2 Page 111 Math Textbook Grade 3
Problem: Observe the picture chart below:
a) Read the chart above and answer the following questions:
- How many white paint cans did the store sell?
- Which color paint cans did the store sell 9 cans of?
- In which colors did the store sell an equal number of paint cans?
- How many paint cans did the store sell in total?
Solution Guide: Based on the chart above, calculate the number of paint cans for each color then answer the questions of the problem.
- Compare the number of paint cans for each color to find colors with the same number of paint cans.
Answer:
The store sold 18 cans of white paint.
The store sold 12 cans of blue paint.
The store sold 12 cans of yellow paint.
The store sold 9 cans of red paint.
So:
- The store sold 18 cans of white paint.
- The store sold 9 cans of red paint.
- The store sold the same number of cans of blue paint as yellow paint.
- The store sold a total of 18 + 12 + 12 + 9 = 51 cans.

Problem: Here is a statistical table of the number of people visiting a dental clinic for dental check-ups on various days of the week:
Read the table above and answer the following questions:
a) How many people visited the dentist on Monday?
b) How many more people visited the dentist on Sunday than on Monday?
c) On which day were only 2 people visiting the dentist?
d) How many people visited the dentist throughout the week?
Solution Guide: Read the data in the table and then answer the questions of the problem.
Answers:
a) There are 7 people visiting the dentist on Monday.
b) The number of people visiting the dentist on Sunday more than on Monday is:
14 - 7 = 7 (people)
c) The day with only 2 people visiting the dentist is Thursday.
d) The number of people visiting the dentist in the whole week is: 7 + 5 + 3 + 2 + 6 + 8 + 14 = 45 (people).
4. Solve Exercise 4 Page 112 Math Workbook Grade 3
Problem: Mix the following cards together and randomly draw one card. According to you, what are the possibilities of the card drawn?
Solution Guide: Observe the picture, describe the possibilities that can occur when drawing a card randomly.
Answers:
Observing the picture, we see that there are 2 types of figures: Cards with rabbit images and cards with elephant images.
So when mixing the cards together and randomly drawing one card, the possible occurrences are:
You can draw a card with a rabbit image.
You can draw a card with an elephant image.
