Isosceles Triangle
1. Solve Exercise 1 Page 62 Math Workbook Grade 7
Problem: Find isosceles triangles and equilateral triangles in the following figure (Figure 13). Explain.
Solution:
An isosceles triangle has two equal sides.
An equilateral triangle has three equal sides.
If a triangle has two equal angles, then it is an isosceles triangle.
Answer:
a) Triangle ABM is an equilateral triangle because AB = BM = MA.
b) Triangle EDG is an equilateral triangle because ED = DG = DE.
Triangle EHF is an isosceles triangle because EH = EF.
Triangle EDH is an isosceles triangle because DE = DH.
Triangle GEF is an isosceles triangle because GE = GF.
2. Solve Exercise 2 Page 62 Math Workbook Grade 7
Solution:
+ If two sides and the included angle of one triangle are equal to two sides and the included angle of another triangle, then the two triangles are congruent.
+ To prove triangle DIF is isosceles, we prove ID = IF.
Answer:
3. Solve Exercise 3 Page 63 Math Workbook Grade 7
Solution:
+ An isosceles triangle has two base angles equal. The sum of three angles in a triangle is 180 degrees.
+ If a line intersects two lines creating a pair of alternate interior angles or a pair of corresponding angles equal, then the two lines are parallel.
Answer:
4. Solve Exercise 4 Page 63 Math Workbook Grade 7
Solution:
+ An isosceles triangle has two equal sides and two equal base angles.
+ If one side and two adjacent angles of this triangle are equal to one side and two adjacent angles of another triangle, then the two triangles are congruent.
