In this article, I want to compile some smartwatches with enhanced blood oxygen (SpO2 - Blood Oxygen) monitoring features, specifically available in Vietnam.
The SpO2 level can be measured using pulse oximetry - an indirect, non-invasive method (Unrelated to inserting devices into the body). It operates by emitting and then absorbing a beam of light transmitted through the blood vessels (or capillaries) in the fingertip or accessible positions. A variant of light passing through the fingertip will provide the SpO2 measurement value as oxygen saturation levels cause changes in blood color.
- SpO2 from 97% - 99%: Good blood oxygen levels.
- SpO2 from 94% - 96%: Average blood oxygen levels, may need additional oxygen.
- SpO2 from 90% - 93%: Low blood oxygen levels, consult a doctor.
- SpO2 below 90% indicates oxygen deficiency, often seen in clinical emergencies.
Note:
- Currently, SpO2 measurement features on smartwatches provide data for reference purposes only, not for diagnosing illnesses.
- This article highlights commonly available smartwatches in Vietnam worth considering.
Latest from Apple: Series 6 Smartwatch
The Series 6 Apple Watch introduces revolutionary sensors capable of monitoring blood oxygen levels directly from your wrist. Apple envisions these sensors playing a pivotal role in early detection and diagnosis of various illnesses:- Asthma
- Heart failure
- Influenza (especially COVID-19)
Introducing the Samsung Galaxy Watch3
The Galaxy Watch3 utilizes red LED and infrared rays to estimate your SpO2 levels or blood oxygen saturation - directly linked to physical activity performance, providing users with insights into their personal health status. These data will be stored in the Samsung Health app for tracking purposes.
The Galaxy Watch3 is now available in Vietnam, starting from 5,989,000 VND (for the 41mm version).Introducing the Garmin Venu 2
Selecting the Health Snap feature on the Garmin Venu 2 activates all sensors on the watch to simultaneously measure various metrics including Heart Rate, Blood Oxygen level, Respiration Rate, and Stress Level. The summarized results are displayed on the watch screen, while detailed results are pushed to the Garmin Connect app on the phone. The Garmin Venu 2 is currently available in Vietnam, starting from 9,990,000 VND.Introducing the Amazfit T-Rex Pro
The T-Rex Pro by Amazfit is equipped with the second-generation Bio Tracker heart rate sensor, designed to monitor user heart rate 24/7 and provide alerts for irregular heartbeats. Additionally, this watch can track blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) not only during sleep but also anytime desired. Simply keep the watch still for a few minutes to obtain current blood oxygen levels.
The Amazfit T-Rex Pro is currently available in Vietnam for 3,490,000 VNDIntroducing the HUAWEI Watch GT2 Pro
Sport tracking is a key focus for Huawei in this product line. The device can track up to 100 different sports activities, including golf. With its built-in memory, the manufacturer provides 10 pre-loaded running courses with voice guidance. The Route Back feature helps record your movement routes and uses GPS for more precise location marking. In addition, heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and blood oxygen level measurement are indispensable features.
The HUAWEI Watch GT2 Pro is currently available in Vietnam, starting from 7,162,000 VND (for the Silicone strap version).
