Sơn La Museum – A Hub of Historical Pride

Sơn La Museum is located on Khau Cả hill, Sơn La city. The museum is part of the historical site of Sơn La Museum and Prison, constructed by the French colonialists in 1908. From here, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Sơn La city from above, surrounded by tranquil roads and shaded areas.

Sơn La Museum mainly exhibits content about ethnic groups, serving as a repository and display for thousands of artifacts from prehistoric and ancient times. These artifacts reflect the distinctive cultures of the 12 brotherly ethnic groups living in Sơn La. Notably, it houses a collection of ancient Thai script books and ancient Dao artifacts, including nearly 1000 volumes covering genres such as epics, folk poems, and stories.

The first floor of Sơn La Museum showcases exhibits from the prehistoric period of Sơn La, while the second floor features exhibits related to Uncle Ho and the ethnic groups of Sơn La. Finally, visitors will explore the exhibition room introducing the cultural characteristics of the 12 ethnic groups in Sơn La.
