(Fatherland) - This game title demands surpassing numerous machine configurations of ordinary players.
At The Game Awards 2022 event recently, Sony finally confirms bringing Returnal - a shooting masterpiece to PC, instead of just releasing it on PlayStation consoles as before. The game now has its own page on Steam, but perhaps gamers should not rejoice hastily based on the latest specifications. Returnal PC version recommends players to have a machine with 32GB RAM.
Specifically, the minimum specifications to play Returnal are not too special, but if you want to experience this masterpiece in the best way, 32GB RAM is the number that Sony recommends players to have for their machines. Remember, this is a number far beyond the usual computer configurations of gamers, and it may cost more than $100 to upgrade. Moreover, according to surveys on Steam, 3/4 of users of this platform are operating with a PC with only about 8-16GB RAM installed while 5.72% of participants still only use 4GB RAM. Only 13.38% of those surveyed installed 32GB, while 1.42% had 64GB or more.
Sony itself did not provide any specific explanation for its recommended configuration, but stated that it is necessary to help Returnal run smoothly and bring the best experience to players. Returnal is not the first PC game to propose 32GB RAM, but it is still a rare sight. Not long ago, EA also initially proposed a 32GB configuration for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order but then changed to 16GB.
It is not known whether Sony will change its mind with Returnal or not. But if you are a hardcore fan of this game series, then this will be the perfect time for gamers to upgrade their machines.
