Sony Drops Major Announcements: Spider-Man Heading to PC on August 12, Resident Evil 4 Remake Coming Next Year

This morning in Vietnam time, Sony's State of Play livestream, initially appearing uneventful, turned out to be a surprising 30-minute experience for gamers on both PlayStation 5 and PC. The two most notable surprises are the upcoming release of Spider-Man Remastered on PC later this year and Capcom's confirmation of Resident Evil 4 Remake after years of speculation. Resident Evil 4, considered one of the best horror games, will undergo a revamp with a new engine, similar to how RE2 and RE3 were treated in 2019 and 2020.

The first unexpected revelation is not only that Spider-Man Remastered is making its way to PC but also that it seems to be released on a platform eagerly awaited by tens of millions even before the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection, which was announced last year. Spider-Man Remastered is expected to hit PC on August 12, just two months from now. The Miles Morales edition is also set to arrive on PC later this year:

Capcom unveils the grandeur of Resident Evil 4, breathing new life into the 17-year-old game with the RE Engine. Promising the most realistic graphics, it transforms the horrifying journey to rescue the daughter of your friend Leon S. Kennedy, now a seasoned warrior, not just a rookie cop as in part 2. The game is set to release on March 23, 2023.

Stray, the game featuring a 'virtual cat' in a cyberpunk world, eagerly awaited by many, finally has a release date, July 19, 2022. Compared to when the game was announced years ago, the graphics have become incredibly detailed and polished.

On PS VR2, one of the most anticipated virtual reality games is Horizon: Call of the Mountain. The teaser trailer for the game was revealed this morning, casting players as a new character, Ryas, not Aloy. Admittedly, after Half-Life: Alyx, very few virtual reality games have graphics and details as impressive as this. Hopefully, the gameplay lives up to the visuals.

Continuing with Horizon, Forbidden West receives a fresh update, offering gamers a New Game+ mode. Replay the storyline with max-level characters, face new difficulty levels, reset skill trees, and benefit from VRR technology to eliminate screen tearing.

Final Fantasy XVI makes a triumphant return, showcasing a more mature style compared to its predecessors. Square Enix's latest masterpiece is expected to release in the summer of next year.

For a concise description of Rollerdrome, imagine a fusion of rollerblading and gun racing. The game is set to launch in August this year.

Embracing the graphic style blending 3D models with cel-shaded 2D effects, Street Fighter 6 is anticipated to regain the trust of fans after the somewhat content-lacking release of Street Fighter 5. And let's admit, Ryu with a beard looks pretty cool!

Tunic, one of the most highly-rated role-playing games of the first half of 2022, will be released on PS4 and PS5 on September 27, 2022. Previously launched in March on PC and Xbox, it has been compared to a classic The Legend of Zelda due to both its design and gameplay style.

Finally, the horror game The Callisto Protocol has a chilling new trailer, where players take on the role of a prisoner trying to survive during an alien creature attack in a prison. Those who enjoyed the classic Dead Space on Xbox 360 back in the day might find this game appealing. Interestingly, the development team at Striking Distance Studios includes artists and developers who worked on the original Dead Space project.
