Sony Xperia 1 V offers 3 color optionsThe display of Sony Xperia 1 V measures 6.5 inches with support for up to 120Hz refresh rate. It retains the X1 tool for mobile devices from Xperia 1 IV to enhance video quality through intelligent software enhancements. Sony Xperia 1 V debuts with Exmor T stacked sensorThe back of Xperia 1 V is also shielded by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and boasts a unique matte finish unlike any other phone on the market. Combined with gently rounded edges, it delivers a more comfortable grip for users. Sony's new flagship is also IP68 rated and offers water resistance and dust protection.
Inside Xperia 1 V lies the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage capacity. Unlike most other high-end smartphones, Sony's flagship comes with a microSD card slot allowing users to easily expand storage. Sony has equipped the Xperia 1 V with a heat sink larger by over 60% to prevent overheating issues seen in its predecessor. The company has also diligently worked to reduce power consumption of the camera, which is one of the main heat-generating components inside smartphones today.
In terms of photography capabilities, Sony's latest flagship utilizes a triple rear camera system with lenses at 16mm, 24mm, and 85-125mm. What's interesting is that Xperia 1 V introduces a new sensor called Exmor T for mobile devices. It's a stacked CMOS sensor, which Sony calls 2-Layer Transistor Pixel. What makes it special? According to Sony, the Japanese company has designed separate photo diodes and semiconductor layers, thereby reducing noise and achieving double the efficiency in low-light conditions.
Technically, this is a 52-megapixel sensor, but it has an effective area of 48 megapixels, transitioning between still photography and video recording aspects, while increasing the area by 1.7 times compared to the previous sensor generation. As a result, Xperia 1 V's main camera will capture low-light scenes better.
The quality of Xperia 1 V's triple rear camera systemSony claims that the new sensor will enable Xperia 1 V to perform twice as well as its predecessor in low-light environments. The company has also activated a night mode to assist in extremely dark environments.
In addition to the main camera, Sony's new flagship also brings a 12MP telephoto camera with continuous zoom capability, similar to the previous generation. Another 12MP sensor on the back uses a wide-angle lens with a 16mm focal length and supports autofocus. The TOF sensor has disappeared, as Sony claims their AI algorithms are too advanced at this point, rendering it redundant.
The Japanese company has also updated its creative apps Photo Pro and Video Pro with a vertical user interface and focal length autofocus.
Xperia 1 V boasts a modern designIn terms of sound, Sony Xperia 1 V offers an enhanced stereo speaker system with louder volume and richer bass. The 3.5mm audio jack is still here for those who prefer wired headphones.
Sony Xperia 1 V is equipped with a 5000mAh battery supporting 30W fast wired charging, allowing for 50% charge in just 30 minutes. This phone also supports wireless charging as well as reverse wireless charging, and Sony promises it will retain at least 80% battery capacity after three years of use.
Sony Xperia 1 V will be available in black, silver, and olive green color options from the end of June. It will be priced at €1,399 (approximately $36 million VND) in Europe.
