South Korea relaxes visa policies for Southeast Asian tourists
Previously, South Korea planned to issue electronic visas for Southeast Asian tourists visiting the country starting from the second half of 2017.
According to the South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the country will waive visa requirements for up to 5 days for tour groups from Southeast Asian countries traveling to Jeju Island, transiting at Incheon and Gimhae airports in South Korea, thereby providing them with the opportunity to visit the capital Seoul or other cities in South Korea.

This move comes as the South Korean tourism industry faces the risk of losing half of its Chinese tourists, as China opposes South Korea's deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system.
Currently, South Korean authorities are making significant efforts to encourage local airlines to expand their flight routes to Southeast Asia and Japan.
