


Southern Women's Museum in Ho Chi Minh City was built to honor Vietnamese women who have contributed to the country's development and also to honor the roles of mothers, wives, and war heroes of women in the war.

The museum, with three floors and 10 display rooms, describes historical figures, including a prominent exhibition highlighting the role of women in the revolution, such as serving as politicians, diplomats, and national managers. In addition, the museum is also a center for organizing educational activities, scientific seminars, and cultural exchanges.

The Southern Women's Museum displays many themes, but only a few themes are occasionally exhibited, notably 11 permanent themes including:
- The tradition of Southern women before the establishment of the Communist Party;
- Uncle Ho with Southern women and Southern women with Uncle Ho;
- The formation and development of Vietnamese women's organizations;
- Southern women after the national reunification;
- Southern women in politics;
- Southern women in the military;
- Southern women in diplomacy;
- Southern women in colonial prisons;
- The cult of Lady - a supernatural female figure;
- Clothing, jewelry of Vietnamese ethnic women;
- Traditional hand weaving profession.
30,000 artifacts are preserved in this museum, divided into 24 collections. Inside the Southern Women's Museum in Ho Chi Minh City, there are displays of paintings, artifacts associated with the dedication of women in the Vietnam War, and 2 rooms describing the activities of women who influenced the revolution such as Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Vo Thi Sau, Nguyen Thi Dinh, etc.

In addition, there are ao dai displayed here, a collection of 65 ao dai exhibited on the 1st floor. As soon as you step into the room, on the left is a large brown board describing an overview of the changes of ao dai through historical changes in Vietnamese, English, and French. Around the display room are many ao dai in chronological order. Therefore, more attention is needed when comparing the refinement of ao dai through periods, from 1744 to the present.


The heritage collection of 'women fighters against two wars' is exhibited on the second floor of the museum and is divided into four sub-themes: political prisoners, diplomacy, images of women fighting when the enemy attacks, and the long-haired army.

In addition, the Southern Women's Museum in Ho Chi Minh City has now built a collection of 350 artifacts used in the production labor of women of the Truong Son - Tay Nguyen ethnic groups, as well as Vietnamese, Chinese, Cham, and Khmer people.
