Spain officially recognizes Vietnam's striking ultraviolet passports

The Spanish Embassy in Vietnam announces that, following the completion of mandatory technical consultations with the central authorities of Spain, these agencies have decided to recognize Vietnam's new passports (in striking ultraviolet). The recognition is due to this passport including the necessary information as per international regulations. However, as Place of birth is mandatory information for Schengen visas, applicants with the new ultraviolet passports must submit a valid ID card to prove their place of birth. Starting today, the embassy will resume processing visa applications for those with the new passports and valid ID cards.

In all circumstances, individuals applying for visas with the new passports should be aware that, when planning to travel to Spain/Europe, according to Schengen regulations, visas issued on the new passports will not be valid for entry into the territories of Schengen member countries where the new passports are not accepted. Therefore, the Embassy advises visa applicants, especially those traveling on tours to multiple countries, to contact the embassies of those countries before departure.

Green-cover passports, displaying Place of birth, remain unrestricted for entry by any Schengen member country and continue to be processed without being affected by the aforementioned territorial restrictions.
