Pork is a staple ingredient in daily meals. However, familiarity can sometimes leave you at a loss for new ideas. Let Mytour guide you through making garlic chili pork belly - a dish that strikes the perfect balance between familiar and exotic!
Among pork cuts, pork belly receives the most attention. Its combination of lean meat and fat renders the dish aromatic and tender, neither too dry nor too greasy after cooking. Consequently, pork belly is widely used, especially in stir-fries.
Garlic chili pork belly may seem simple, but its flavor is absolutely mouthwatering. The aroma of garlic and the tingling spiciness of chili coat each crispy piece of fried pork. Whether as a snack or paired with rice, it's a perfect match. Especially when the pork belly is fried with garlic and chili until golden brown and eaten with crispy rice, it's just heavenly. 2. Recipe for garlic chili pork belly
This dish is very easy to make with basic ingredients, making it perfect for everyday meals.
Prepare the ingredients
| Khẩu phần | Thời gian chuẩn bị | Thời gian chế biến | Độ khó |
| 4 người | 20 phút | 15 phút | Dễ |
- 500 grams pork belly
- 1 bulb of garlic
- 3 chili peppers
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- Common seasonings: fish sauce, seasoning, broth mix, cooking oil, etc.
Method
Step 1: Prepare the ingredients
- Wash the pork belly with clean water, optionally adding diluted saltwater or rubbing with ginger to remove any odor. Pat dry the surface of the pork and cut into pieces about 2cm thick. Avoid cutting too thin or too small as the frying process may dry out the meat.
- Marinate the pork with: 1 teaspoon fish sauce, ½ teaspoon seasoning, ½ teaspoon broth mix, 1 teaspoon sugar, finely chopped shallots. Mix well and marinate for 20 - 30 minutes.
- Remove the stem from the chili peppers and finely chop; peel and finely chop the garlic. Note: If a handheld blender is available, it can be used for quick and convenient chopping.

Step 2: Prepare the sauce mixture:
- Mix minced garlic, 1.5 tablespoons of sweet chili sauce, 1 tablespoon of fish sauce, and 1 tablespoon of sugar in a bowl, then stir well. Additionally, you can add a little cooking oil (for color) or finely chopped lemongrass (for extra fragrance).
Step 3: Fry the pork
- Place a pan on the stove, add a little cooking oil, and heat until the oil is hot. Then add 1 tablespoon of cornstarch and stir well. This step will make the pork belly crispier when fried and reduce splattering. Alternatively, you can place the cornstarch in a bowl and coat the pork evenly with the flour before frying.
- Once the cornstarch is dissolved, add the marinated pork belly to the pan. Adjust the heat to medium, fry until the surface of the pork is crispy. When the pork has a beautiful golden color, remove it from the pan.

- Using the same pan, remove excess cooking oil (leaving about 1 tablespoon). When the oil is hot, add minced garlic and chili to sauté until fragrant. Once the garlic turns golden, add the fried pork belly and toss well to coat the meat with the garlic chili mixture.
- Adjust seasoning to taste, and your garlic chili pork belly is ready.
- Plate the dish and serve with cucumber, raw vegetables, etc., to enhance the flavor.
