II. Sample Speech: Expressing Opinions on the Issue of Bullying in Schools Today
Hello, teacher, and fellow students. My name is Đặng Hoàng Minh. In today's Speaking and Listening class, I would like to share my thoughts and perspectives on the issue of bullying in schools today.
Firstly, do you all understand what 'moral decay' and 'bullying' mean? In my view, 'moral decay' refers to bad habits, quite common in life, causing significant harm. On the other hand, 'bullying' is when someone relies on strength, intimidates the weaker, and uses threats to instill fear. It can be said that the vice of bullying is prevalent in many living environments, notably in the school environment.
Since ancient times, our ancestors coined the phrase, 'A devil only bullies another devil.' Nowadays, the issue of bullying doesn't only occur among individuals with differences in status, hierarchy, or age; it also happens among individuals of the same age group. In the same class, it's not uncommon for student A to lead a small group and bully student B. Bullies often use offensive language to offend others, causing damage to mental and emotional well-being. In some cases, they exhibit violent behavior. This is something we cannot accept.
The root cause of this issue stems from the individuals themselves. Some individuals seek to show off, wanting to prove themselves 'cool' compared to others. Others often engage in blind competition, jealousy, feeling inferior and frustrated. Or simply, it's due to personal misunderstandings.
To ensure that the school environment remains civilized and positive, everyone needs to change their perception, discard distorted lifestyles, and learn to give more love. Simultaneously, diligently cultivate ethics, adopting a proper and refined lifestyle. In times of conflict, resolution should be based on equality and mutual respect. Additionally, families should pay closer attention, monitoring their children more closely. Parents can engage in frequent conversations, confide in their children to understand their academic and social situations better. Finally, schools and teachers need to enhance education, guiding communication and behavioral skills for students.
Hoping that all schools will no longer face the issues of bullying or violence. Let's work together to build a friendly and harmonious school environment.
The conclusion of my presentation is here. Thank you, teacher, and all of you for your attention and listening.
