Hello, Mrs. and classmates, I am Hoang Minh Trong. In today's listening and speaking practice session, I would like to present to you the topic of whether or not to establish a book club within the school premises. I kindly request you all to listen attentively.
Dear friends, can you tell me how many of you sitting here enjoy and are passionate about reading books? And what do you think about establishing a book club within the school? Personally, I find this to be a very commendable suggestion to foster a reading culture among our students.
While watching TV once, I vividly remember a quote from the former President of the United States, Barack Obama: 'Reading is fundamental. If you know how to read, the whole world opens up to you.' Establishing a book club is a practical endeavor as it not only enhances the reading culture within the school environment but also promotes the importance and benefits of books.
I think that establishing a book club within the school is necessary. And to accomplish that, each of us needs to encourage students in the school through various means such as posting announcements before each class, posting on the fan page, etc. Additionally, we can organize club activities both in-person and online to create a time for everyone to freely exchange ideas about books. Also, actively recommending good books and notable authors to encourage everyone to explore and read.
Above are some of my opinions. I hope to receive feedback and exchanges from everyone to make the presentation more complete. Thank you!
Speaking and Listening: Presenting opinions on an issue in Literary Life 6 CTST
Prompt 2: Present your opinion on the issue: Is the museum boring as some people think?
I. Outline presenting opinions on the issue: Is the museum boring as some people think?
Allow me to introduce myself... Now, let me present my views on the topic: Are museums as boring as some people think? I hope you and everyone here will listen and exchange thoughts.
Dear friends, almost everyone sitting here has visited historical sites or museums, haven't they? So, how was that experience? Was it interesting or not? For me, every time I visit large museums, I feel extremely excited. However, not everyone shares the same sentiments. Some find museums incredibly dull, not worth their time.
I believe the reason why people lack interest in museums is primarily due to busy lifestyles, which leave many people without the means or time to contemplate and explore history. Secondly, there's a lack of awareness about social, cultural, and historical issues among a significant portion of Vietnamese people. Most social sciences and humanities subjects, particularly history, are not adequately emphasized or taught in schools. The teaching of history is still dry, lacking in engaging methods to stimulate learning and interest in students. Finally, most museums fail to be captivating enough and lack effective promotion and outreach. Poor layout and presentation distract viewers, preventing them from fully engaging.
Nevertheless, I still believe museums are worth visiting regularly. They are repositories of valuable artifacts, contributing to the preservation and promotion of our cultural heritage and traditions. Museums offer knowledge not found in books, allowing students and everyone to visually and vividly understand history and life. Especially in this technological age, some museums have embraced technology in management and visitor guidance, such as the Ho Chi Minh Museum and the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts. I hope we'll have a different perspective on this cultural and historical venue.
That concludes my presentation. Thank you, everyone, for listening!
