Spotify speaks out after uproar over misinformation

Following the uproar surrounding the Joe Rogan Experience program, which caused many artists to abandon the platform and receive significant criticism, Spotify today announced it will label content for podcast programs and penalize those who spread misinformation. To increase transparency, Spotify also announced on their website their Covid-19 content policy and platform regulations.

According to the policy disclosed, Spotify prohibits all content claiming that AIDS, Covid-19, cancer, or other deadly diseases are fake and not real. The platform will also prohibit content encouraging people to contract Covid-19 to build immunity and stating that vaccines are created to kill people.

Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and Nils Lofgren are among the artists who have removed all their creative content from Spotify following Rogan's podcast, where he stated that young people do not need to get the Covid-19 vaccine.
