Standard Tennis Court Dimensions
International Standard Tennis Court Dimensions
According to the basic rules of Tennis set by the International Tennis Federation (ITF), the dimensions of a Tennis court are as follows:
1. Court Size
As per regulations, a standard Tennis court is rectangular in shape, wherein:
- Singles Tennis Court: Length is 23.77m (78 feet), width equals 8.23m (27 feet).
- Doubles Tennis Court: Length is 23.77m (78 feet), width equals 10.97m (36 feet).
2. Boundary Regulations
- The boundary lines at the end of each main court are the baseline, the lines on both sides are the sidelines. The service line will be drawn parallel to the width of the court. From the service line to the net, there is a distance of 6.4m.
- The boundary lines on the court fluctuate from 2.5cm - 5cm, with the only exception being the line at the end of the court which may have a width of 10cm.
3. Regulations Regarding Net Posts
- A standard Tennis court has net posts in either square or circular shape, not painted in flashy colors. If using circular net posts, they need to be 15cm in diameter. If using square net posts, they should be 15x15cm. The center of the post will be placed alongside the outer edge of the sidelines, 0.914m away.
4. Regulations for Playing Net
- The standard playing net in a Tennis court is stretched horizontally across the width of the Tennis court, running parallel to the sidelines, evenly dividing for both sides. The height of the playing net is 914mm at the center, and at the two net posts, it is 1.07m high.
- The upper band of the net is white, with a width of 5cm, it can be larger but should not exceed 6.35cm.
Usually, the lines on the court are either white or in contrast with the court color. You should remember to use a single color to draw all the lines.
You can draw using white chalk or paint. All boundary lines on the Tennis court are measured to the outermost edge.
