As many of you may know, Apple has officially released the latest version of its operating systems - iOS 13 and macOS 10.15 Catalina, packed with numerous convenient and intelligent features.

In addition to standout features, the new versions of both operating systems also bring a significant upgrade in anti-theft capabilities. With iOS 13 and macOS 10.15, stealing iPhone and Mac devices becomes much more challenging.
1. Mac OS now features Find My.
Apple has consolidated the iOS applications Find My Friends and Find iPhone into a single app named Find My, taking on the role of searching for both devices and loved ones. This app is now also available on macOS.

2. Locate devices even when offline.
Contrary to previous information suggesting that iPhone and iPad could be located even when offline, the reality was different. Currently, in its recent launch, Apple revealed the use of new technology allowing device location even without an internet connection, even during sleep mode.

In more detail, macOS and iOS devices emit Bluetooth signals to other Apple devices in the surrounding range, aiding in the location of lost devices even without an internet connection.
At this point, nearby Apple devices (likely with internet connection) will relay the lost device's location to its owner, significantly improving the chances of recovery.
3. iCloud Lock on Mac.
For iPhone enthusiasts, you're undoubtedly familiar with terms like iCloud Activation Lock or simply iCloud Lock, deactivation, and brick.
Now, with macOS 10.15, Apple brings the Activation Lock feature to Mac computers. Specifically, Activation Lock will be present on all Macs equipped with the T2 chip. Currently, T2-chipped Macs include MacBook Pro 2018/2019, MacBook Air 2018, Mac mini 2018, and iMac Pro.

The functionality of Activation Lock on Mac operates similarly to iOS: when a Mac is marked as stolen, a prompt requiring Apple ID and password input will appear. Users must input the correct information to use it (however, the Bypass technique, exploiting operating system vulnerabilities, allows users to skip the Activation Lock screen).

While stealing iPhones and MacBook Airs or Pros may be more challenging with iOS 13 and macOS 10.15, taking meticulous care in safeguarding your devices is never excessive.
