Valve has recently announced that Steam now enables you to create a list of words you wish to filter from your chat experience. Steam's Text & Chat Filtering feature has traditionally eliminated sensitive and 'toxic' words commonly used. Now, you can add specific words you want to replace with icons in supported games and Steam chat. This feature is accessible through Steam Labs' beta program and is likely to be widely deployed in the near future.
Download and Install the Latest Steam Version:
Customize your filters by accessing the Preferences section in your Steam account. There, you'll find Community Content Preferences and set up the new Text & Chat Filtering. From there, you can input words to always or never filter individually or by uploading a list of words.

Why not outright ban specific words? Steam developers state that instead of moderating users, they want to empower users to 'choose what they see from others.' Developers emphasize the importance of this level of control, stating that 'language is constantly evolving and used differently among various communities worldwide.'
Steam encourages users to explore the new system and provide feedback, which could be instrumental in moving this feature beyond the beta version in the future.
