As a prequel to the popular historical drama Bridgerton, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story easily captivates viewers with its classic romantic setting, dazzling costumes, and numerous steamy scenes. The series also shocks with its most intense 'bedroom' scenes ever.
Bridgerton is the most-watched series in Netflix history. Based on Julia Quinn's novels, the show is set in Regency-era England (early 19th century) and each season tells the love stories of the Bridgerton siblings in the esteemed Bridgerton family.
The main series premiered in 2020 and 2022, with two more seasons planned.
Following the success of the main series, the prequel Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story premiered on May 4th and is garnering significant international attention.
The central character of the series is Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel). It chronicles the journey of young Charlotte (India Amarteifio) as she rises to the highest seat of power in England.

According to the introduction, Charlotte reluctantly enters into an arranged marriage with the handsome yet troubled King George (Corey Mylchreest). From strangers, they strive to build a relationship. In Bridgerton, they have 15 children together.
The series is filled with 18+ labeled scenes that are eye-catching, such as frolicking in the bathtub or some 'sensual' images between two male servants... However, the most peculiar of them all comes from a familiar supporting character.
Those who have watched the main series know about the confident and shrewd Lady Agatha Danbury portrayed by Adjoa Andoh. In Queen Charlotte, the younger version is portrayed by Arsema Thomas.
Agatha Danbury finds herself trapped in a loveless marriage with her much older husband, Lord Danbury (Cyril Nri).
Between them, there are some dull 'bedroom' scenes seemingly meant to highlight Mrs. Danbury's unhappiness.
In episode 3, the two are intimate in bed. As usual, Mrs. Danbury looks bored and uncomfortable. She turns her face to the wall so it's not clear what her husband is doing behind her. Mr. Danbury suddenly stops in the middle, leaving the young wife confused and asking. However, in response, there's a loud 'thud.' Agatha Danbury turns around to find her husband dead on the floor.
Scenes in the series leave viewers stunned. Mostly garnering comments of disbelief, the prequel Bridgerton creatively pushes the boundaries of steamy scenes to the extent of characters meeting their demise during intimacy.

The allure of Bridgerton compared to other works of the same genre lies in its classic romantic setting, elaborate costume design, and many realistic steamy scenes. As the second season airs, many viewers have complained about the lack of focus on sexual aspects as expected. With Queen Charlotte, those opinions seem to be acknowledged. The series has plenty of intriguing plot twists, not just steamy scenes but also shocking deaths.
