However, according to community feedback, Call of Duty HQ is a messy chaos. Even the most basic task of helping players open Modern Warfare 3 is deemed confusing. Not only regular players but also famous streamers like Dr. Disrespect created videos showcasing the troublesome process of opening the game to illustrate how flawed this launcher is.
On PS5, the main interface of Modern Warfare 2 disappeared, replaced by part 3 due to merging both games. Players wanting to access part 2 don't know which path to take. On PC, to open Modern Warfare 3, players have to open part 2 first, click on Modern Warfare 3 in the part 2 menu. The game will completely exit part 2 to the desktop before loading part 3. The waiting time for loading is an endless agony as both games require substantial resources.
Not only is the process of opening the game chaotic, but gamers accuse Call of Duty HQ of being just a renamed Modern Warfare 2 with a different interface as a launcher. Therefore, when installing it and Modern Warfare 3 on the computer, players have to bear the storage burden of both games. Some game journalists tried installing it on PS5, and the final occupied space was a whopping 171.5 GB. This is the result of a weary download chain including the game version (91 GB), patch update (111 GB), and campaign (46 GB). Along with that, numerous login/logout attempts were demanded by the Activision account system.
Leaked information suggests that Call of Duty HQ is not a meticulously planned design but seems to be a hasty move to fix issues with Modern Warfare 3. Internal developer sources reveal that part 3 was developed in just 16 months and was upgraded from a DLC to a full game. Due to the rush, developers had to rely on the file system of part 2 and 'patch and stitch' it into part 3. They transformed Modern Warfare 2 into Call of Duty HQ to reduce the risk of detection. Because if this is truly the launcher for the CoD world, why not merge the first part as well?
