Windows operating system continues to be a dominant choice for users worldwide. With the robust development of various operating systems, changes in Windows are understandable. New features in the latest Windows versions, such as adjusting screen timeout in Windows, are introduced. Turning off unnecessary services in Windows helps enhance processing speed and overall system efficiency.
3 Steps to Disable Unnecessary Services in Windows
Step 1: Open the Run dialog. Press the Windows key + R to open.
Step 2: Access Services.
To open Services, type services.msc or copy-paste it into the Run box.
Step 3: Choose and disable unnecessary services.
When the Services dialog appears, select Standard (1) for clearer visibility. Then, locate unnecessary services; for example, I choose Bluetooth Support (2). Right-click and choose Properties (3).
- On the General tab, find the startup type for it.
+ Automatic: Starts automatically when the computer boots up. Having multiple services start simultaneously during boot-up can slow down the computer. Choose this option only when necessary for specific software or similar services.
+ Automatic (Delayed Start): Automatically starts after a set period following system boot. You can set the time for them to initiate.
+ Manual: Only starts when applications require these services. This is a safe mode and recommended for selection.
+ Disable: Completely turns off.
- Here, I opt to disable entirely. Then press Apply or Ok.
This way, you have successfully disabled an unnecessary service on Windows. To disable other services, follow the instructions above, even for software. Additionally, for optimal Windows performance, check out the top 5 free utilities to make your computer run smoother.
