PowerPoint, the quintessential software for crafting dynamic presentation slides, naturally incorporates the essential features of audio and video recording. With PowerPoint installed, you can effortlessly capture your presentation without the need for any additional supporting software. This article guides you through the process of recording and filming a PowerPoint presentation.
* Note: In this guide, I'm using PowerPoint 2016. For other versions, you can follow similar steps, though the interface may vary slightly.
Recording and Filming with PowerPoint Demystified
Step 1: Open the Slide Show tab, click the dropdown arrow of Record Slide Show. You have two options: Start Recording from Beginning... or Start Recording from Current Slide.... Choose one according to your preference.
The program prompts you to specify what to record. Keep all options selected, then press Start Recording to commence audio/video recording.
Step 2: Record your narration for the first slide and click Next to proceed to the next slide. Repeat this process sequentially until the last slide.
During the recording of each slide, you can pause at any time. If there are mistakes in your recent presentation, click Repeat to re-present that particular slide.
While presenting slides, you can transform your mouse cursor into a laser pointer to pinpoint the content being discussed. Alternatively, switch to a writing or highlighting tool to annotate and emphasize key points (right-click on the presenting slide, hover over Pointer Options, and choose the desired pen type).
Step 3: Conclude the slideshow or pause the recording midway by right-clicking on the presenting slide and selecting End Show.
Step 4: Publish your recorded content into a video. Click on File, choose Export > Create a Video.
Select the video quality and click on Create Video to finalize the export.
Finally, choose a directory to store the resulting video.
After PowerPoint finishes processing, open the video and enjoy your presentation!
