Hà Giang: Land of Limestone Peaks

Cornfields interspersed amidst rocky mountain ranges
Along the winding roads of Hà Giang, the lush greenery extends endlessly across the hills and mountains. During the summer showers, the green becomes even deeper. From Quản Bạ to Yên Minh, or from Đồng Văn to Mèo Vạc, the roadsides are covered in a vibrant green hue bursting with life.

Sometimes, corn is also intercropped with lemongrass and other short-duration crops to maximize farming space.

Corn holds significant economic value for the people of highland Hà Giang. Beyond being a staple food crop, corn is also used as the main ingredient for various dishes such as men men, corn cakes, and for brewing alcohol. So, when traveling to Hà Giang, don't forget to visit traditional markets to taste the fragrant corn cakes and sip on a hearty glass of corn wine!
...to the lush fields during autumn harvest...
In the culture of the H’Mông people, corn holds great spiritual significance, especially in their spiritual lives. It's said that cultivating corn and weaving cloth showcase the diligence, skill, and resilience of H’Mông women, as the process involves over 40 meticulous steps from planting to harvesting, weaving. The tradition of cultivating corn reflects the beauty of daily life including eating, dressing, living, as well as religious beliefs, folk customs, and traditional festivals of the H’Mông people.
In the early days of summer, as corn begins to tassel, it's also time for the lanh plants to be harvested. If you wander further into the small villages of Hà Giang, you'll come across vast lanh fields in front of small houses, or interspersed amidst the lush green cornfields.

When the lanh plants tower several hand spans above a person's head, and their stems and leaves turn a deep green, it signals the beginning of the harvest season for the H’Mông people. Families or neighboring households will gather in the fields and divide the tasks: some chop the plants, some strip the leaves, some tie them into bundles... Everything is coordinated seamlessly.

...lush green rice fields awaiting the day to ripen...
Hà Giang stands as one of Vietnam's most captivating destinations for witnessing ripe rice fields. In summer, the burgeoning rice paddies, awaiting their golden harvest, exude an enchanting allure. The picturesque tableau of human activity, the patchwork of fields seen from above, reveals vibrant hues. The lush green of young crops intertwines with the deep green of the mountain forests.

and the shade of fruit-laden trees
Blessed with a cool climate year-round, Hà Giang is an ideal place for growing fruit trees. Summer is also the time when fruits like pears and peaches are ready for harvest. What's special here is that locals often plant trees on hillsides or in small houses in the villages, providing shade and yielding fruits for refreshment. Traveling to Hà Giang in summer is a continuation for those who love this land. As in spring, visitors enjoy the stunning blossoms, while in summer, ripe fruits welcome distant travelers back.
