During peak hours, diners have to wait at least an hour from seating to when the pancakes are served.
Sun-soaked visitors endure hours-long wait for famous Vung Tau coconut pancakes
Goc Vu Sua Coconut Pancake Stall stands out as a culinary hotspot on Nguyen Truong To Street, Ward 2, Vung Tau City. In the early days of the year, the stall often finds itself in a 'packed to the brim' situation as a large number of visitors flock to the city for Lunar New Year festivities. Many arriving late have to settle for waiting under the scorching sun.

Ms. Thanh Hoa (Dong Nai) shared that she had to wait over half an hour before being seated. 'After being seated, we had to wait a long time for the pancakes, while the kids were hungry,' Ms. Hoa shared.
Thanks to recommendations from friends, Mr. Thanh Nhan (Ho Chi Minh City) discovered this address and decided to visit with his group over the weekend. Upon seeing dozens of people waiting outside under the intense sun, Nhan decided to explore another coconut pancake stall nearby.
'If there was only one place selling that dish, I'd happily wait. Otherwise, I'd go elsewhere rather than waste time and energy waiting,' shared Nhan.
Like Thanh Nhan, friends Phuc and Tam arrived on motorbike and upon seeing the crowded scene, opted to find another spot. 'I really fear waiting, especially in the scorching outdoors,' Phuc quickly remarked.

Currently residing in Vung Tau, Dat, a regular at the stall for many years, mentioned that on regular days, the stall isn't too crowded, with most customers coming on weekends. 'The situation of overcrowding and customers waiting for a long time, sometimes over an hour before getting the pancakes, happens frequently on special occasions,' Dat added.
This address serves only shrimp-filled coconut pancakes. Although not much different in terms of preparation from other nearby stalls, Goc Vu Sua stands out for its unique rice flour mixture. The pancakes are poured directly onto the cast iron stove and served hot and crispy. The shrimp adds a sweet flavor to it.
This dish is also served with fresh vegetables like kale, lettuce, perilla leaves, fish mint, along with pickled papaya and the indispensable bowl of sweet and sour fish sauce. Chili paste is available for guests to adjust the spiciness according to their preference.

On TripAdvisor, Goc Vu Sua Coconut Pancake Stall has received many praises from foreign tourists. Aerofaze from Colorado commented: 'I don't care much about how they cook it. The vegetables are very clean and fresh, the pancakes are crispy and fragrant. I had a really great meal.' However, a male tourist mentioned that the stall wasn't clean, with many flies around the tissue box and dust blowing in from the street.
Matt K from Switzerland suggests that you haven't truly experienced Vung Tau if you overlook this enticing dish. He says: 'The stall is crowded and hot but worth the wait.'
