Phu Quoc is increasingly becoming adorned with picturesque photo spots and delicious cuisine, making it an ideal retreat for a relaxing vacation with your loved ones.
Super Detailed Travel Itinerary Suggestions for Phu Quoc
IDEAL TIMEFRAME
– I've visited Phu Quoc in both seasons. When I visited in July during the rainy season, the sea was turbulent and not very pleasant. Boat tours around the islands were a bit challenging due to the rough sea and sporadic rain. Therefore, the period from November to April is the ideal time to visit Phu Quoc. I decided to visit Phu Quoc in March, and the weather and the sea were exceptionally beautiful, with gentle sunlight creating stunning scenes.
FLIGHT TICKETS
– I booked my flight tickets from Hanoi, and the prices varied depending on the timing.
– During the rainy season in Phu Quoc, which corresponds to summer in the North, ticket prices are high. I booked in July and paid 2.8 million VND for a round trip (4 months in advance).
– In the dry season in Phu Quoc, equivalent to spring or winter in the North, ticket prices are very affordable. I booked in March, and for a 3-day round trip, it cost only 1.2 million VND.
TRANSPORTATION
– Phu Quoc is divided into 3 areas: North Island, Duong Dong, and South Island.
– When traveling with my family of 3, I booked a private car following our family's itinerary, priced between 400k – 700k VND depending on the route. If traveling with friends, renting a motorbike delivered to the resort costs 150k VND for a scooter, 120k VND for a manual bike.
HOTELS & RESORTS
– Movenpick Waverly Phu Quoc:
+ This place leans more towards resort-style accommodation, with 2 areas: villas and a main building. Villas with 1-3 bedrooms range from 4.5-10 million VND per night. I stayed in the main building by the pool and beach. Notably, they offer a Chocolate Hour program, with a chocolate buffet featuring a variety of fruits and candies from 4 pm to 5 pm, free of charge. The pool is spacious and beautiful, offering a scenic view of the sea. There are lounge chairs on the beach for sunset watching. On Saturdays, they host a music party with grilled skewers for 50k VND per skewer.

– Sol Beach House Melia Phu Quoc
+ Part of the Melia chain, located 7-8 km from the city center, a taxi ride costs about 70k VND to the center. Dominated by green tones in design, it has a youthful style, a large pool, and beautiful decor, especially the green-toned cushions which are perfect for Instagram photos. The pool is next to the beach, allowing you to indulge in social media-worthy check-ins.
– Lahana Resort
+ Located in the heart of the city, featuring an infinity pool but no beach access, I stayed in a spacious bungalow priced at 1.5 million VND per night, overlooking the garden. I loved the resort for its central location, expansive green grounds, and the Mediterranean-style restaurant which offers picturesque photo opportunities.
WHERE TO GO IN PHU QUOC
– Island hopping tour: Visit Mong Tay, May Rut Island, Ganh Gi, Thom Island. Shared canoe tour prices range from 500k to 900k VND depending on whether transportation to An Thoi port is included. We opted for a private canoe priced at 2.5 million VND for 3 people, following our own itinerary. We enjoyed a seafood hotpot on the island for 500k VND, and drinks cost around 800k VND for 3 people.
– An Thoi Station: Perfect for Western-style photoshoots, allowing you to indulge in social media-worthy moments.

– Sunset Sanato: Admission fee is 100k VND per person excluding drinks. It's best to go around 3-4 pm to capture all the photos and then enjoy the sunset. With music and DJs, it's a lively and vibrant atmosphere.

– Vinpearl and Safari: Vinpearl costs 750k VND, Safari costs 650k VND. There's a free bus service to various pickup points, so you can wait there. Make sure to check the shuttle schedule beforehand.
+ Buggy Ride Tickets: 20,000 VND/1 ride (all day)
+ Renting Sunshade Umbrellas: 20,000 VND/1 use (all day)
+ Elephant Feeding in the Enclosure: 30,000 VND/1 portion (from 9:20 am to 9:50 am and 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm daily)
+ VIP Package: 900,000 VND/1 car/7 people (60-minute zoo tour)

– Snail Bar: Located in the city center, drinks start from 80k VND. They have lounge chairs by the beach for sunset viewing, and in the evening, there's a DJ and fire dancing.
– Sao Beach: Famous for its Instagrammable swings by the sea.
– Rạch Vẹm: A pristine beach with countless starfish, though it's remote and difficult to access, the experience is totally worth it. Just a heads-up, refrain from holding the starfish for photos.
WHAT TO EAT
– Kiến Xây Stir-fried Noodles at 28 Bach Dang: ~50k VND
– Hanh Fish Cake Soup at 42 Bach Dang: 40k-50k VND
– Trich Fish Salad: ~130k VND per plate, generous portion, available at Ra Khơi restaurant
– Út Lượm's Special Noodle Soup at 78 30/4 street: delicious and unique for only 25k VND
– Indulge in the traditional delights of 14 Bach Dang Ancient House Tea
– Dive into the flavors of Fried Rice with Mantis Shrimp
– Seafood: Previously, I used to dine at some beachside huts in Ham Ninh, where fresh seafood was cheap. However, it's all banned now, so I head to the fishing port area. There's Cây Bàng eatery, but it's not as good as Ham Ninh. Alternatively, you can visit the night market in the city center, where prices are transparent.
– For a more refined family dining experience, you can try Ra Khơi, Cát Biển, or Northern Rice 123. I've only tried Ra Khơi so far.
– Souvenir Shopping: You can visit the market to buy flavored peanuts ranging from 70k-130k VND, or unique items like clips and sim wine.
Finally, I want to say that traveling to Phú Quốc is truly beautiful. It's worth visiting multiple times. Whether you go during the dry or rainy season, each has its own beauty and charm. I've been there in both seasons. Wishing everyone a joyful trip!
