1. Surprising Ways to Eliminate Odors from Your Microwave
You often use a microwave to prepare a variety of dishes, and those dishes unintentionally leave unpleasant odors inside the microwave. Refer to the following article for some surprising hacks to eliminate foul odors in your microwave!
1. Odor Elimination with Water
When you bring home a brand new microwave, it's likely to have dust and plastic smells inside from being unused. Simply place a cup of water inside the microwave and heat it up to dissipate the plastic and metallic odors.

2. Odor Removal with Vinegar
For microwaves with strong lingering odors, avoid using chemicals or cleaners for sanitation as they may damage the appliance. Instead, mix 300 ml of water with a few tablespoons of vinegar in a cup and place it in the microwave. Then, operate the microwave and heat it for 5 minutes. The vinegar steam will help reduce the odors inside the microwave. Additionally, lemon juice can be used as a substitute for vinegar.

3. Odor Elimination with Salt
After cooking, food residues often stick to the bottom of the microwave, causing unpleasant odors. Simply sprinkle some salt onto the affected areas, wait for the microwave to cool down, and then use a piece of seaweed that has been squeezed dry to wipe it off.

4. Odor Removal with Orange Peels
First, peel the orange into large pieces and place them on a tray. Then, put this tray of orange peels into the microwave and heat it for 5 minutes. You will no longer notice any foul odors lingering inside the microwave.

5. Citrus Freshness Method
Slice a lemon into thin slices, place them in a bowl of water, place the bowl in the microwave, and heat for 1 – 2 minutes. When steam adheres to the inner glass of the microwave, turn off the microwave to cool, then use a dry cloth to wipe it clean.

6. Odor Removal with Charcoal
Interestingly, charcoal can still be used to eliminate odors from the microwave. This is a traditional and lesser-known method for deodorizing and detoxifying. Simply wrap some charcoal in a newspaper and place it in the microwave. Leave it there naturally for a few days, and the foul odor will dissipate without needing to operate the microwave.

7. Odor Elimination with Baking Soda
Baking soda, also known as bicarbonate of soda (available at baking supply stores), can also effectively remove odors from the microwave. Simply put 2 tablespoons of baking soda and a cup of water in the microwave and heat for 2 – 3 minutes. Then, use a dry cloth to wipe it clean, and the odor will be completely gone.

8. Vanilla Odor Elimination
The procedure is similar to using baking soda. Put about 4 tablespoons of vanilla extract (approximately 20 ml) into a glass of water. Then, microwave it for 30 minutes, let it cool, and then clean it with a dry cloth.
9. Lavender Odor Removal
Place about 57 grams of lavender (available at markets) into the microwave. Leave it in there until you need to use the microwave, then remove this amount of lavender and continue using. This is also a method for you to regularly deodorize your microwave.

10. Grease Odor Elimination
For grease stains on the walls of the microwave, cleaning is also a way to remove odors. Simply use a damp cloth to wipe off the stains. If the grease stains are more stubborn, you should use vinegar mixed with hot water to wipe them off. The dirt will disappear along with the odor.
