As speculated beforehand, Suzuki has officially unveiled the GSX-8R sportbike at EICMA 2023, based on the previously introduced GSX-8S model. The 8R retains its 776cc parallel-twin engine configuration, but as a sportbike, the 8R appears much more appealing.
The 2024 GSX-8R from Suzuki is equipped with an intelligent rider assistance system, featured on the premium GSX-S1000GX, also introduced at EICMA 2023. The assistance systems include:- 3 driving modes
- Traction control
- Electronic throttle
- Quick up and downshifting
- Easy start (push to start, no need to clutch)
- Low rpm assist
The front braking system comprises a pair of Nissin 4-piston calipers paired with 310mm discs. At the rear, there's a single-piston caliper and a 240mm disc. The GSX-8R rides on 17-inch wheels fitted with Dunlop RoadSport Two tires.
Other Features
The most outstanding feature of the GSX-8R is its fairing. Suzuki has modified the design of the hexagonal LED headlights from the GSX-8S to make this fairing more daring and aerodynamically efficient. The handlebars on the GSX-8R are made of cast aluminum, mounted directly on top of the forks, creating a riding position quite similar to the Aprilia RS660 rather than the Yamaha R7. Lastly, the windshield completes the aerodynamic profile at the front of the bike.
Dimensions and Colors
The bike has a seat height of 810mm, which is very comfortable for us riders. The wet weight is 205 kg. The GSX-8R comes in 4 colors: blue, black, yellow, and silver. Suzuki hasn't announced the price for the 8R yet, but it's likely to be around 11,000 USD, more expensive than the Yamaha R7 and CBR650R, but cheaper than the Aprilia RS660.
