T1 and DRX stand on the brink of establishing new milestones for the LoL community after the upcoming Finals.
Following the intense World Finals (Worlds), the League of Legends (LoL) community is focused on the Finals - the most important match of the season for both teams. The contenders for this Final match are T1 and DRX. It's not just a game to determine the champion of the LoL scene but also a series of long-standing records awaiting the breakthroughs from both teams.
Firstly, the record for the oldest player to potentially claim victory at a Worlds. As of now, this record is held by Ambition (25 years 8 days) - the former legend of Samsung Galaxy after representing LCK in Worlds 2017. Both Faker and Deft are already 26 years old, so whether it's T1 or DRX claiming victory, Ambition's record will be broken.
Another milestone related to age is Faker (17 years 151 days) winning his first Worlds in 2013, making him the second-youngest player to ever win this tournament (after Fnatic's Cyanide). However, Cyanide's case wouldn't fit the current scenario as regulations no longer allow players under 17 to compete professionally. Therefore, if T1 wins Worlds 2022, Faker will be the youngest and oldest player to win Worlds.
Furthermore, if DRX secures victory, both the team and their players will establish a series of new milestones. Firstly, DRX would be the first team to go from Play-Ins to winning a Worlds. This is a remarkable achievement as teams from Play-Ins are often not highly regarded and rarely achieve good results in previous Worlds.
If DRX clinches the title at Worlds 2022, the duo of Deft - BeryL will become the oldest Bot Lane pair to win a Worlds. Both Deft and BeryL will also become the oldest players in their respective roles (ADC, Support) to win Worlds.
For T1 and DRX players, the moments ahead are the ones to etch their names in history. But there can only be one victor, and both teams must exert utmost effort to pave the way for a new chapter in this season's most crucial match.
