T1 players believe the match could have been easier against Gen.G.
As known, the match between T1 and Gen.G ended in an extremely dramatic fashion. It extended to the fifth set, with T1 emerging as the ultimate victor. This rare encounter between T1 and Gen.G, though not favorably rated for T1, concluded logically in a BO5 given the tension and performances of both teams.
However, for T1, the prolonged match was unnecessary and somewhat unforeseen. After the initial 2 sets, T1 demonstrated absolute dominance. Even Faker and his teammates constantly pressured their opponents throughout the third set. Only through Chovy's excellence, coupled with a stroke of luck, could Gen.G reclaim the third set and subsequently gain full control of the fourth set, leading to a decisive fifth set.
In the interview segment, Oner bluntly admitted his dissatisfaction with this victory. T1's Jungler stated: 'The score should've been 3-0, but we were too eager and complacent. The maneuver akin to Zeus, I also believed Sion could counter Rumble. However, it ended up being overturned. I believe the match would've been easier if we hadn't been too carried away.'
Oner's perspective was indirectly corroborated by Gumayusi in his post-match interview. Despite showcasing peak performance, Gumayusi also expressed dissatisfaction with sets 3 and 4. Gumayusi shared: 'We were complacent after sets 1 and 2, only to face disappointment in 2 subsequent sets. One set was a complete reversal of fortune, while the other we lost from the outset.'
Overall, the encounter with Gen.G extending to the fifth set was something T1 players didn't anticipate after such complete performances in sets 1 and 2. The complacency and haste were evident. T1's upcoming opponent will be JD Gaming - the reigning LPL champions. T1 players must immediately put an end to this complacent and impulsive mentality, as JDG is also a contender for the MSI 2023 championship and they're ready to capitalize on any mistakes made by Faker and his teammates.
