T1 makes an unforgivable mistake right from the start of the Gen.G clash at the official kick-off of Worlds 2023.
Following the GAM Esports - Fnatic match, the League of Legends community eagerly anticipates the 'LCK derby' between familiar rivals: T1 and Gen.G - two teams with a history of intense rivalry in the LoL scene. Gen.G maintains a superior performance, while T1's debut struggles to reach its peak, narrowly overcoming Team Liquid.

However, T1's early-game dominance falters as Gen.G reshapes their lineup, unleashing the full strength of their positions. Notably, Chovy's outstanding performance aids Gen.G in comprehensive match control. Chovy and Doran individually create powerful pushes for Gen.G. T1 can't resist and ultimately accepts defeat against Gen.G once again this season.

In matches where both teams are evenly matched, even the smallest mistake leads to defeat. However, T1's most critical error didn't happen in the game itself but before it even began. Specifically, as SofM pointed out during the co-stream, T1 made overly ambitious champion bans: 'They had the conditions to win, but still chose Aatrox, losing control of the match. The lineup had enough damage from the Bot Lane, yet they chose Aatrox instead of a tank.'

SofM's analysis is echoed by caster LS, who believes T1 had more options than Aatrox. In reality, Aatrox for Zeus wasn't necessarily a mistake, as this player has shown proficiency with Aatrox recently. However, it's clear that T1 didn't have a more stable lineup compared to Gen.G, lacking someone capable of withstanding the damage Gen.G brought (from Akali, Rumble, Xayah, and Kha'Zix). Meanwhile, Aatrox didn't synergize well with Oriana - Jarvan IV combo.

It's evident that T1's champion bans weren't truly strategic, while Gen.G almost exclusively stuck to their 'comfort picks,' operating more smoothly. This defeat for T1 isn't a catastrophe, and they still have ample opportunities to advance in Worlds 2023. However, Faker and teammates must reevaluate their champion bans and overall strategy if they genuinely aim to compete for the title in this edition of Worlds.
