Suppose you need to create periods '.' in the answer section as depicted below. In that case, follow these steps:
Step 1: In cell B6, input the formula: =A2&'..........' -> You can input more '...' if desired.
Step 2: Press Enter to display the result as shown below:
With the above steps, you have created dots similar to tab formatting when working in Word.
You can also place the '...' in front -> in which case you need to enter the formula as: ='..........'&A2. The result after you enter and press Enter:
Another method, you can also use Format Cells to create data like: 123..........
To achieve this style, select the cell needing tab formatting then go to Format Cells (or press the shortcut Ctrl + 1) -> choose the Number tab (1) -> then select Custom (2).
In the Type box, type: .......... -> then click OK.
The result is when you return to the Excel spreadsheet, you enter 123 and press Enter it will display as shown below:
