Swain is currently rising as an incredibly dominant force in Teamfight Tactics.
As we are aware, in the latest version of Teamfight Tactics, Riot Games has reduced the power of several 3-cost powerhouses such as Olaf, Lee Sin, Diana. This is to prevent compositions revolving around 3-cost champions from becoming overly dominant and negatively impacting overall gameplay.
Certainly, Riot isn't completely eliminating this playstyle as they are also slightly boosting the power of some other powerhouses to allow them to shine, with Swain being a notable example.
Fundamentally, a team composition centered around Swain will utilize his potent magical damage-dealing capabilities as the focal point. Paired with crowd control champions like Neeko, Gnar, and notably Shyvana, Swain will have ample time to inflict damage. Additionally, being chosen as the Dragon Blademaster leader, Swain can assist in defeating opponents quite effortlessly.
At the start of the match, you can play as a composition centered around Sett by activating the crucial synergies of Dragonlord and Dragon Blademaster. Therefore, champions like Shen, Senna, or Karma are extremely crucial and should be acquired as soon as possible. During this stage, you can equip magic items on Karma to hold items for Swain.
During the mid-game phase, players will gradually shift their focus to revolving around Swain as soon as they acquire this champion at 1-star level. You can supplement Gnar at this stage to activate the Shapeshifter trait, increasing health and resilience for key champions. Another core choice you should consider is Warmog's Armor because it provides Swain with considerable damage during the waiting time to reach 3 stars. Additionally, items that offer gold and equipment are always suitable upgrades for a Swain composition.
For itemization, Guinsoo's Rageblade and Morellonomicon are among the best items for Swain. As the third item slot, you should utilize an item that boosts skill damage such as Rabadon's Deathcap, Frozen Heart, or Seraph's Embrace.
