The frontline combination of Vex and Morgana makes the Sorcerer - Gangplank lineup incredibly beefy in Teamfight Tactics.
It's a widely acknowledged fact among Teamfight Tactics players that magic damage compositions have fallen behind in patch 6.5. Despite Ahri's addition to the Sorcerer lineup, this unit takes too long to accumulate significant power and unleash a large number of magic orbs. Clearly, within the Sorcerer team, only Vex serves as a tank, which isn't enough to create enough space for Ahri to cast her abilities.

And then, some high-level players found a clever way to overcome this weakness of the Sorcerer team by stopping at the 4-unit threshold and replacing them with more versatile champions. With Morgana positioned at the front line, you'll have a formidable duo of shielders and defenders consisting of Morgana and Vex. This condition is sufficient for Ahri to cast her abilities as many times as possible.
To kickstart this lineup, the advice is to use the 3 Yordles threshold early on. This will give you extra gold and increase the chance of obtaining Vex in the mid-game. Swain at this stage is also a unit worth buying when you can equip defensive items for Vex and Morgana. Additionally, Blitzcrank is a good choice when activating the recycling effect alongside Ziggs.

As you progress to the mid-game, you should still keep the 3 Yordles threshold, but players need to replace Poppy with Vex as early as possible to get the best core. Gangplank units like Morgana or Zyra are also strong choices at this stage as they have incredibly powerful crowd control skills. Owning those units early on will help you activate the 3 Gangplank threshold right when you buy Ahri instead of waiting to roll them out.

In the final stages of the match, your priority should be rolling at level 8 to upgrade Ahri to 2 stars and at least 1 of the 2 Vex/Morgana units to 3 stars. Additionally, upgrading Silco is highly beneficial for this team comp as it enables Ahri to cast her abilities much earlier. With the synergy of 4 Sorcerers and 3 Gangplank, Ahri becomes both resilient and deals significant damage at the end of the game after each ability cast.

When it comes to core technology choices, prioritizing upgrades that boost Sorcerer synergies is essential. This accelerates reaching the 4 Sorcerer threshold significantly and enables adding a tank unit towards the end of the match. Moreover, the Gemstone Core is an excellent option as it eliminates the need to assemble the Protector Gauntlet.
Regarding itemization, Blue Buff and Hextech Gunblade are essential for Ahri as they greatly enhance her damage output. For the third item slot, consider adding a defensive item instead of relying solely on offensive items. For Vex or Morgana, simply equipping them with tank items is sufficient.
