Telegram CEO announces additional support for proxy and VPN users following ban order.

The founder and CEO of Telegram has just announced additional support for proxy and VPN users following the ban order. Telegram has begun providing subsidies to individuals and companies operating 5 proxy and VPN servers, and plans to reward users developing technology to circumvent government bans on the Telegram messaging service this year.

Following the effective ban order from the Russian court last week, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov posted the announcement on the Telegram channel:

'To support Internet freedom in Russia and other regions, we will start providing subsidies to individuals and organizations operating SOCKS5 proxy and VPNs.'

Additionally, Durov added some other points in his post. Firstly, he thanked Apple, Google, Amazon, and Microsoft for not engaging in political censorship. He also noted that Russian users account for 7% of Telegram's total user base and that if they were forced to cease operations in Russia, the growth of Telegram in other regions would compensate for the lost users.
