Sample essay: Tell the tale of whose doll by embodying the doll's narrative.
Written Piece
Sister Nga was a girl fond of play and quick to boredom. Just last summer, Sister Nga insisted Mother buy me a rather beautiful doll, rosy cheeks, blue eyes, shiny blonde hair. But shortly after, Sister Nga abandoned me atop the cupboard along with some other toys to gather dust.
The weather turned bitterly cold, leaving me with only a thin undershirt as my dress had been washed and left somewhere unknown by Sister Nga. One night, as the cold pierced through me, I shivered and sobbed bitterly. Sister Topsy-Turvy, twirling in her sleep, woke up groggily and asked:
- Why are you crying?'
- I have no clothes, so cold! And you, luckily your hat and coat are stuck to you, so Sister Nga can't take them off.
Sister Topsy-Turvy muttered:
- She's awful! Once she's bored, she never cares about us anymore.
I whimpered:
- I don't want to live with her anymore! I'm leaving here!
After saying that, I tried to climb the wall, squeezed through the air vent hole, and jumped onto the street. Sister Topsy-Turvy tried calling me back, but she couldn't, so she woke up Sister Nga. However, Sister Nga remained deep in sleep under the covers. Sister Topsy-Turvy regretted being round and footless. If she had feet, she might have left too.
The next morning, after seven, Sister Nga finally woke up. Looking up at the cupboard and not finding me, she shouted: 'Who took away my doll?' Her mother told her to diligently look in the corners of the cupboard or under the bed. Sister Nga reluctantly obeyed, but where could she find me?!
The previous night, after escaping outside, I happily ran across the street. But at night, it was too cold to go further. I had to find a large tree, crawled into a pile of dry leaves to keep warm. The next morning, a passing girl noticed me lying in the leaves and exclaimed:
- Oh! Such a lovely doll, who would throw you away like this? Such a pity!
The girl took me home, carefully cleaned me. She said:
- Why doesn't the doll have clothes? Poor thing! I'll sew a beautiful dress for you!
Then the girl excitedly cut and sewed me a very beautiful dress. At night, she hugged me to sleep. In her tender embrace, under the cozy blanket, I felt incredibly happy. I whispered into the ear of the girl as she dreamt peacefully:
- Sister, I want to be with you forever!
