Even the gaming giant Tencent is genuinely expressing enthusiasm for the NFT game trend at the moment.
NFT games, GameFi, Play to Earn, Blockchain, and even the Metaverse, these are precisely the hottest keywords at the moment. Many believe they signify the future and a common goal for the global game industry's development. However, dissenting opinions exist, suggesting that NFT games are creating divisions in the global gaming industry. Everyone has their own perspective, but an undeniable fact is that NFT games have been and continue to be one of the most controversial topics. Recently, Tencent, a global gaming industry giant, continues to generate endless discussions by officially entering this race.

Specifically, the French mobile game startup Voodoo, supported by Tencent, has announced its participation in the Play to Earn (P2E) non-fungible token (NFT) gaming industry. According to company officials, Voodoo has decided to invest over $200 million in blockchain technology next year to further develop its P2E NFT project. Speaking to the press, CEO Alex Yazdi shared: 'This specific blockchain will revolutionize the gaming sector because players are accustomed to buying digital assets… This technology will give players true ownership of their digital assets, creating a deeper interaction between players with collecting, trading, and selling digital currency and assets in the game to enhance the fun and bonding experience'.

However, he also emphasizes that this will not kill off existing traditional games but will contribute to building a more robust empire for NFT games.
Tencent's move is considered quite in line with the current trend. However, it simultaneously continues to stir up debates about the industry's polarization. Just recently, the South Korean government has requested major mobile app stores like Google Play and the App Store to block any games that require in-app purchases before playing. This can be seen as a direct move targeting the NFT game market, which is also booming in South Korea.

The endless debates over NFT games persist, and Tencent's entry may not necessarily signal positivity. It's worth remembering that even a giant like Ubisoft faced numerous criticisms when integrating NFT technology. Moreover, another industry player, Valve, outright rejected NFT games. Whether this is a future trend or not, one thing is certain—NFT games are causing significant division within the global gaming industry.
