Recently, Microsoft has launched an application that enables users to send messages and make calls directly on Windows 10, known as Messaging Skype Beta (also referred to as Messaging for Windows 10). Refer to the details below for more information.

There are several ways to make calls on Windows 10. Users can utilize popular chat software like Viber or Skype. While Viber has its own version for Windows 10, Skype has also added numerous new features and become more user-friendly. You can download Viber for Windows 10 or Skype to conduct calls and send messages on Windows 10.

These applications demonstrate Microsoft's fresh directions for its Skype app. Instead of bundling all features into one app, users now have to navigate between two separate ones for different tasks.

Looking at competitors, Microsoft seems to be following a similar path to Apple. Just like Mac and iOS users juggle between iMessage and FaceTime, Microsoft users now have Messaging and Video apps for similar purposes.
