Following the waves of TVB dramas and Korean culture, Vietnam continues to embrace a new wave from the Golden Land of Thailand.
Thai Ghosts Ignite Vietnamese Cinemas
The movie 'Ghost Love', Thailand's most popular blockbuster, has arrived in Vietnam, sparking an unprecedented wave of fandom. Screenings for this film are fully booked, and information, images, and plot details are widely shared across social media.

On another front, Thailand is gradually winning over the hearts of Vietnamese youth through television. The TV series 'Hormones – The Rebellious Age' is making waves on forums and social media platforms, despite not being broadcast on any Vietnamese TV channel. This demonstrates the allure of Thai entertainment, which, although still lagging behind Hong Kong and South Korea, is gaining momentum among the Vietnamese, especially the younger generation.

Thai film actors are also beginning to capture the interest of Vietnamese youth, with Mario Maurer being the most notable.

The allure of Thai products
While not as renowned as American or Japanese brands in terms of quality, Thai goods still hold a distinct position and offer reasonable prices for Vietnamese consumers. Particularly in the realm of food items, Thai products are highly regarded compared to Chinese and Vietnamese goods, appealing to those seeking quality assurance without breaking the bank. Recently, the transition of FamilyMart stores into the Thai brand B’Smart marks a new stride in bringing Thai culture and products closer to the Vietnamese people. Stepping into any B’Smart store, you're immediately immersed in Thai culture, starting with the greeting “Sawadee Kap,” reminiscent of the Japanese “Irashaimase,” despite the customers being Vietnamese.

The fashion trends among Vietnamese youth are increasingly favoring Thai merchandise. Streets like Sư Vạn Hạn, Nguyễn Trãi,… in Ho Chi Minh City are dotted with fashion clothing shops predominantly sourcing from shopping hubs like MBK, Platinum, and Chatuchak Market in Bangkok, Thailand.
Thai Tourism: A Growing Trend
From April's Songkran Festival to the mid-year sales in July and August, Thailand experiences a surge in Vietnamese tourists flocking to Bangkok for their summer vacations. With sprawling commercial complexes like Central World, Siam Paragon, MBK, and Platinum, Bangkok truly becomes a shopper’s paradise for most Vietnamese tourists.

Furthermore, Thailand boasts culturally and religiously significant attractions. While Bangkok hosts the Royal Palace along with grand temples like Wat Arun and Wat Pho, and the ancient city of Ayutthaya, Chiang Mai features a plethora of prominent Buddhist sites within the area including Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep and Wat Chedi Luang.

Summer is the season when tourists flock to the sun-drenched beaches of Thailand in Phuket such as Patong Beach or the islands of Koh Larn, Koh Phi Phi…

With its diverse attractions mentioned above, coupled with its proximity and reasonable prices, Thailand has always been an excellent choice for Vietnamese tourists. Being recognized as the world's most visited destination according to Mastercard's survey, Thai tourism once again asserts its position.
With refined and professional service styles, good service quality, and effective communication channels, Thai products ranging from entertainment, fashion to tourism are flooding Asian countries, including Vietnam. The Thai wave is certainly not going to stop there, but in the coming years, it may become a formidable competitor to the waves from China and South Korea in Vietnam.
