On December 15, the Thai government began a trial allowing entertainment venues in certain areas to operate until 4 a.m.
Thailand permits entertainment venues to stay open until 4 a.m.
The decision by the Thai government came after a meeting between Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul with representatives of various ministries, departments, and local authorities in the four aforementioned areas including the capital Bangkok and the three provinces of Chonburi, Phuket, and Chiang Mai.
Especially on New Year's Eve – 2024, all bars and nightclubs nationwide will be allowed to stay open until 6 a.m. on the first day of the new year.
These are renowned tourist hubs in Thailand. The Ministry of Interior will also be responsible for conducting evaluations to propose suitable entertainment venue operating hours for each locality after this trial period.
