The Thailand Tourism Office in Ho Chi Minh City has stated that the government has not approved the increase in entry and airport departure fees from January 2014, refuting claims that travelers will have to pay extra for these services.

According to the agency, the Thai government is still considering imposing entry fees for international visitors and airport fees, and has not made a final decision on implementing these charges from January 2014.
Recently, there has been speculation that tourists visiting Thailand will have to pay additional fees as the government plans to introduce entry fees. International visitors arriving at the country's international airports with a stay of over 3 days may have to pay 500 baht. Those arriving by road and staying less than 3 days will pay 30 baht/day. However, this is still in the planning stage.
In addition, the authorities in the country are still considering the proposal by the directors of Thai airports to increase departure fees for international flights from 700 baht to 800 baht, and domestic flights from 100 baht to 200 baht.
Vietnam is one of Thailand's major tourism markets. According to information from the Thailand Tourism Authority, the influx of tourists from Vietnam to Thailand continues to grow. In the first months of 2013, there were 260,621 tourists from Vietnam to Thailand, a 10.4% increase compared to the same period last year. Each week, there are over 100 flights from Vietnam to Thailand.
