ONE OF THE OLDEST LIGHTHOUSES IN SOUTHEAST ASIA
Vung Tau Lighthouse sits atop Little Mountain in Vung Tau City, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province. In 1863, the French built a lighthouse to guide and signal ships in the area. Originally located at 149m above sea level, it was relocated to over 170m in 1913. The tower stands about 18m tall with a diameter of 3m and features an internal spiral staircase leading up to the light and a balcony for sightseeing. The lighthouse is solidly connected to the staff quarters via a tunnel. Painted entirely in white, the cylindrical structure reflects classical architecture typical of late 19th-century lighthouses worldwide.
